A typical block wall will bounce sound upward where it can recurve
back to ground level a short distance away. The block wall can also
tend to amplify the sound as well. The SoundFence is different.
As noise hits the SoundFence absorption panels, it enters the medium
density fiberglass mesh where it is permanently dissipated in the
form of heat. Instead of bouncing off the surface, it goes away
and is not heard from again.
ASC manufactures the patented
3” thick, panelized noise stopping unit that can be nested
inside of a cedar fence with slats on both sides. The weatherproof
panels can also be mounted to an existing cement block wall as long
as the top is protected from direct exposure. SoundFence panels
can even be used without the cedar fence, with just a 2 x 6 header
across the top. Custom sizes are available to accommodate fences
from 3’ to 8’ tall.
Each
absorption panel is priced at $15 per perimeter foot. For example,
a 4' x 5' panel has 18 perimeter feet (adding the length of all
four sides). The price of that panel would be $270. Another example
might be a 1' x 8' panel, also 18 perimeter feet and $270.
In real world terms, a 6
foot high SoundFence, 50 feet long would cost roughly $2600.
